Are the Minions losing their pop culture hold? Minions & Monsters, the latest installment in the Despicable Mefranchise, marks the third prequel entry and the seventh Despicable Me film. While the animated feature was praised by critics, earning a franchise-high Rotten Tomatoes score of 90%, its box-office performance has come up lacking. Minions & Monsters follows James and Henry (Pierre Coffin), two minions who belong to a different group from the ones that served Gru, with more artistic tendencies. One day, they stumble into Hollywood and become superstars until the introduction of sound in filmmaking, when the minions are unable to adapt due to their language. After getting fired, James plans to make his own movie, but to make it a success, they need to find a giant monster.
