Eclipses inspired awe in ancient times, and they still possess the power to create a profound impact.

Today, September 21, marks the first Solar Eclipse in Virgo since 2006 – 19 long years! Yet, this is no coincidence, as Eclipse cycles repeat over time.

So, what does this year’s event hold in store for us? First, a little background. If you recall, we’ve already had a Virgo New Moon this year, on August 23. And this one, known as a Black Moon, offers a further opportunity to embrace the best of Virgo energy as the Sun and Moon align – this time for the six months following the Eclipse.

The Moon in Virgo encourages us to get things in order on the home front. So, if you’ve become a born-again couch potato, take it as a nudge to swing into action: declutter, move the furniture around, clean out the fridge or any drawers that are so stuffed they barely open!

The Sun prompts us to reflect on our physical routines, approach to wellbeing, food, diet and nutrition, and how much exercise we’re getting. It also invites us to consider small but meaningful changes – think ‘marginal gains’.

Being more precise and organised may not sound glamorous, but a lifestyle audit could unlock new energy and vitality, even if we think we’ve got it all covered. One of the key things is to be honest with ourselves about where there’s room for improvement.

Virgo also rules work, duties, and responsibilities. If some of these no longer bring satisfaction, now is an ideal time for review.

Keep in mind too, on this particular Eclipse, stern and powerful Saturn sits opposite in sensitive Pisces; an alignment that may stir up areas we’ve been avoiding – but facing them could bring healing and release.

Here’s how your star sign can not only survive but thrive over the next six months.

Aries

March 21 to April 20

You may find yourself revisiting old ground through to February next year, Aries – but don’t resent this. If thorny issues arise, it’s likely because they need to be resolved once and for all. Your physical energy may be more affected by your emotions than usual, so embrace sensitivity rather than pushing through it. Anything therapeutic or healing can give you a powerful boost.

Taurus

April 21 to May 21

Virgo is your fellow Earth sign, and this is a wonderful opportunity to showcase your creative talents, ideas, or plans – and prove just how unique you are. However, this may also spark changes in long-term direction, friendships, or even romantic relationships. If old ties feel stale or restrictive, it’s time to consider moving on – even if your natural tendency is to stick rather than twist.

Gemini

May 22 to June 21

Worldly responsibilities – through your career or family (both younger and older members) – are likely to weigh heavily over the coming months. While this could lead to a breakthrough or promotion, it must be balanced with attention to your foundations and work-life equilibrium. Give yourself permission for ‘you time’ – or risk burnout. Moments of retreat can be incredibly restorative.

Cancer

June 22 to July 23

Your sign is ruled by the Moon, Cancer, giving you deep sensitivity and perception. However, this Eclipse calls for a blend of intuition and practical communication. Add logic to the mix to enhance your decision-making. Be prepared for some philosophical disagreements, but stand firm in your beliefs. A new mode of transport could also grab your interest.

Leo

July 24 to August 23

We all face everyday costs, as well as long-term financial considerations. You’ll likely become more focused on value for money and thrifty living. Shared finances – particularly in a relationship or business – may come under the spotlight. If there’s a mismatch in priorities, careful negotiation will be needed. You’ll likely want to cut any non-essential spending.

Virgo

August 24 to September 23

This Eclipse offers a golden opportunity to revitalise current plans or launch something new. But be prepared – not everyone will share your enthusiasm. Trust in your inner strength and resilience to move forward regardless. Some Virgos may also feel inspired to revamp their look or get more physically active.

Libra

September 24 to October 23

It’s not always easy to say no to others – especially at work – but if life is beginning to feel like a treadmill, it’s time to nurture your inner world. Spa days, weekends away, or walks in nature can be deeply healing. As much as you care for others, be confident enough to draw boundaries if demands become overwhelming.

Scorpio

October 24 to November 22

The old saying ‘you can’t please everyone, all of the time’ rings true during this Eclipse. If you’re juggling too many demands, it’s time to prioritise. Some shifts in your social circle or interests may occur, but this helps you focus on what truly matters. If you’re single, someone significant could appear by early next year.

Sagittarius

November 23 to December 21

If you’ve been working hard and striving for a breakthrough in your career, it could be just around the corner. But to fully seize the opportunity, your home and support systems need to be solid. If long days and heavy demands are ahead, make sure everything behind the scenes is in place – so you can seize that golden opportunity.

Capricorn

December 22 to January 20

Venturing into new and exciting experiences might feel at odds with your hardworking nature – but now’s the time to explore. Jetting off somewhere exotic, learning a new language, or taking on a rugged outdoor challenge doesn’t mean abandoning your responsibilities. Sometimes, variety really is the spice of life.

Aquarius

January 21 to February 19

Have a business idea you want to get serious about? Go for it, Aquarius! Just be sure your foundations are solid first – a message reinforced by your traditional ruler, Saturn, which is closely linked to this Eclipse. You may also reflect on what no longer serves your purpose, and what it’s time to let go of.

Pisces

February 20 to March 20

You’ll be reflecting deeply on relationships of all kinds – including the one you have with yourself. The more clarity you gain around your needs, what you’re willing to give, and what others require from you, the more your connections can flourish. However, if one relationship has been struggling for some time, a significant decision may be on the horizon.
