The Boys Season 5 Episode 3 features a scene that is destined to draw comparisons to real-world current events, somehow semi-predicting Donald Trump’s controversial comparison of himself to Jesus.
The Boys’ showrunner Eric Kripke recently told TVGuide that he was “totally bummed out” that Season 5 had been written before the November 2024 presidential election, due to reality becoming stranger than fiction.
“This sounds super naive now, but I swear the plan was, let’s write a 1984 version of what creeping authoritarianism looks like in America, and maybe everyone will be like, ‘Whew! We really dodged a bullet’ — but instead we got hit with the bullet,” Kripke said.
“A lot of things that [were] far-fetched for us, [that] we were like, ‘That’s crazy,’ have come to pass in a way that’s really, really f—ing troubling.”
Now an example of art mimicking life can be seen in Episode 3, titled ‘Every One of You Sons of B*tches,’ which features a scene where ludicrous comparisons are drawn between Homelander (Antony Starr, who recently went viral due to his reaction to the show’s memes) and Jesus.
The Boys Season 5 Episode 3 predicted Trump’s Jesus comparison
Trump recently deleted an AI-generated picture he posted on his TruthSocial page, with it seemingly depicting him as a Christ-like figure healing others. After receiving backlash from people branding the image blasphemous, Trump claimed that the image was intended to show him as a doctor standing next to a Red Cross worker (via Mandatory), not Jesus.
“It’s supposed to be as a doctor making people better,” the U.S. President said in response to criticism of the image. “And I do make people better. I make people a lot better.”
Trump’s claims were difficult for many to believe, given that the AI image showed him wearing robes typically associated with Jesus, surrounded by a very biblical-looking golden light. Now The Boys’ Homelander — whose narcissistic and power-hungry personality has led to many comparisons to Trump — has appeared in a scene that echoes this recent controversy.

In Episode 3, Homelander hallucinates former lover Madelyn Stillwell (Elisabeth Shue) as an angel descending from heaven — with the American flag behind her — comforting him as he continues to struggle with his position as a beloved saviour of the people crumbling around him.
Stillwell appears in robes and a glowing light similar to Trump’s AI image, and then begins to make direct comparisons to Homelander and Jesus.
“I know you think love is weak and human,” she says, “but who is more loved than Jesus? And why should he have more love than you? You’ve saved more people than he does. The one true God.”
The scene comes out of nowhere, depicting a character who Homelander killed all the way back in Season 1, and then making outlandish comparisons between the show’s antagonist and Jesus Christ. It’s not a direct prediction — there’s no AI usage — but that this episode that was written before November 2024 landed just two days after Trump posted the image comparing himself to Jesus is an absurd coincidence.
Kripke noted that Season 5 Episode 7 will feature a moment from Homelander that has already happened in the real world, so we’ll have to wait and see if that scene is weirder than this incident.
