Sydney SweeneyA scene in the new Devil Wears Prada movie starring Sydney Sweeney has apparently ended up on the cutting room floor.
Last year, the Emmy nominee was one of several A-listers spotted on the set of The Devil Wears Prada 2, sparking rumours that she’d be making a cameo in the new film.
However, after the first screening on Monday night, Entertainment Weekly pointed out that Sydney was not included in the finished film.
The outlet has since reported that the former White Lotus actor shot a brief scene that would have been featured at the beginning of the movie.
And while Sydney has been at the centre of several controversies over the last 12 months,Entertainment Weekly claimed that this was not the reason her scene was axed, citing an undisclosed “source” who put the cut down to a “creative decision”.
Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada 2HuffPost UK has contacted representatives for both Sydney Sweeney and Disney – the parent company of 20th Century Studios, the production house behind The Devil Wears Prada 2 – for comment.
Sydney can currently be seen in action in the third season of Euphoria, which has received a lukewarm response from critics – with her scenes in particular facing a lot of scrutiny over the last two weeks.
The second Devil Wears Prada movie features several members of the original cast reprising their roles, most notably Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci.
Joining the sequel’s cast include the likes of Sir Kenneth Branagh, Justin Theroux, BJ Novak and Simone Ashley, who can probably relate to Sydney having her cameo cut after her own scenes from F1 were axed last year.
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga is among the celebrities thought to be making cameos, as well as contributing new music to the film’s soundtrack.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits cinemas on 1 May.
