The much-awaited SWAT spin-off, titled Exiles, has officially added two cast members from the original series for its premiere episode. The continuation series, which will once again follow the escapades of Shemar Moore’s Sergeant II Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson Jr., will now include Jay Harrington and Patrick St. Esprit, who will be reprising their roles from the 2017 action drama in the first episode of Exiles.

SWAT Exiles to feature Jay Harrington and Patrick St. Esprit in its premiere

According to a recent report, Jay Harrington and Patrick St. Esprit, who portrayed Sergeant David ‘Deacon’ Kay and Commander Robert Hicks, respectively, throughout the eight-season run of SWAT, will once again embody the no-nonsense Los Angeles officers in Exiles.

As per Deadline, while both Harrington and Esprit will feature in the cast of SWAT Exiles Episode 1 as guest stars, their future in the spin-off series remains unclear at the time of writing.

SWAT Exiles will see Shemar Moore’s Hondo forcefully cut his retirement short to handle the aftermath of a high-profile operation gone wrong. In accordance, he takes on the reins of a last-chance experimental SWAT unit, consisting of young, inexperienced, and unpredictable rookies.

Having inherited a fresh squad full of new-generation recruits, Hondo must instill a sense of camaraderie in his teammates, all the while balancing their clashing personalities, if he hopes to protect his city in the best way possible.

Apart from Moore, Harrington, and Esprit, Sony Pictures Television has yet to unveil the complete primary cast for SWAT Exiles. Meanwhile, Jason Ning comes in as the showrunner as well as the executive producer for the series. Additionally, Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty of Original Film, along with Moore, James Scura, and Jon Cowan, round up the remaining executive producer team.

Although Sony Pictures Television is producing and distributing the SWAT spin-off globally, the 10-episode series has yet to secure a network or streaming home. Furthermore, SWAT Exiles does not have an official release date as well.
