One of the actors from David Ayer’s Suicide Squad has shared a strange incident from the film’s set involving Jared Leto’s Joker. Leto portrayed the clown prince of crime in the DC Extended Universe, which was later scrapped.

What did Ike Barinholtz say about Suicide Squad and Jared Leto?

In 2016’s Suicide Squad, Ike Barinholtz portrayed Griggs, a prison guard at Belle Reve who was later interrogated by the villain. In the scene, Leto’s Joker intimidates Griggs, forcing him to reveal the location of Harley Quinn’s whereabouts.

Barinholtz said during an appearance on Funny You Ask, “He was supposed to be, like, menacing me in the scene. So I was acting scared, like, ‘Oh no, please.’ He’s like straddling me and is like, ‘Uh oh! Did someone piss their pants?’ And I’m a yes-ander, so I was like, ‘Yes. Yeah.’ And it was just like — that’s a rough improv to say to someone.”

Leto is known for immersing himself deeply in his characters through method acting. During the filming of Suicide Squad, several actors came forward sharing stories of how Leto sent them increasingly disturbing gifts while staying in character. Leto’s stint as the Joker was short-lived, with many critics panning his take on the character. Leto reprised the role in one of the final scenes of Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Following Leto, the Joker has been played by Joaquin Phoenix and Barry Keoghan in 2019’s Joker and 2022’s The Batman. James Gunn’s DC Universe has yet to introduce its version of the Joker and Batman. The latter is expected to debut first in The Brave and the Bold.

Since playing the Joker, Leto has also attempted a second try at playing a comic-book character in 2022’s Morbius. The film was a critical and financial flop, grossing $167 million and earning a measly 15% on Rotten Tomatoes. Leto also plays Skeletor in this year’s Masters of the Universe, which has also not been a box office success. The actor brought his Joker-like behavior to the He-Man set as well. Unfortunately, the actor’s commitment to playing the villain did not help the film.
