La Voix is set to take to the ballroom floor for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing – but when it comes to the show’s infamous curse, she’s all too ready.

The RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star, 45, was the seventh celebrity confirmed for the BBC’s ballroom dancing extravaganza, after she took the 2024 series of the drag reality show by storm.

La Voix earned a place in the Drag Race Grand Finale and was awarded the runner-up spot. Viewers who have missed her charm on screen will soon be treated to more on the BBC’s weekend primetime slot, with Strictly kicking off on Saturday night.

The drag star spoke with Metro and other press ahead of the first episode this weekend.

When asked about the infamous Strictly curse, which refers to individuals in relationships who have found romance with other contestants or professional dancers taking part for the glitterball trophy, La Voix had an all-timer response.

‘I say bring it on, you know what I mean? I’m single. Absolutely,’ she told us.

La Voix said she’s ‘living the dream’ with her Strictly experience so far, with her announcement on the show marking the first drag queen contestant on a full-length season of Strictly.

Tayce, who appeared on Drag Race UK‘s second season, won Strictly’s 2024 Christmas special.

La Voix said the response to her addition to this year’s line-up has been ‘incredible’, describing the outpouring from fans as ‘something that I didn’t even see coming on the level that it did’.

‘I think the want for it for many, many years has been there,’ she told us. ‘I mean, it’s the camp-est, glittery show, the whole thing goes hand in hand.’

She continued: ‘There’s no reason why it shouldn’t be, and I’m just glad to bring good entertainment to that show.

‘There’s no deeper message. There’s no ulterior motive. It’s just prime time TV. I think we’re used to Dame Edna and Lily Savage for all those years. Let’s bring that back to the TV.’

As for how exactly the Strictly wardrobe team is going to give the uber-glamorous La Voix a makeover for the dancefloor, she joked she ‘might be the only one that dresses down on the live show’.

La Voix said she’s already got a glimpse of her dress for the first live show, adding: ‘I want the full Strictly experience. They’re going to take it to the next level. They have already.

‘The glamour is wonderful. I feel like I’m living my dream. It’s amazing. I don’t want to do the dancing bit, just the dressing up bit.’

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One and iPlayer from September 20.
