Stranger Things’ New Spin-off Netflix TV Show Scores Theatrical Release Date

Some Stranger Things fans will have the opportunity to watch the first two episodes of the new spin-off show, Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, in a theater.

Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 premieres on the Netflix streaming service next month. Coming from showrunner Eric Robles and Stranger Things co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer, the new animated show is set between the events of the second and third seasons of the flagship series.

When is the Stranger Things spin-off show coming to theaters?

It has now been announced that Netflix will hold special limited theatrical screenings for the first two episodes of Stranger Things: Tales From ’85. These theatrical screenings will take place before the show drops on the streaming service.

In partnership with AMC Theatres, there will be 34 theaters across the United States participating in the event, which will be held on April 18, 2026, at noon and 3 p.m. local time. In addition to the AMC locations, New York’s Paris Theater and Netflix House Philadelphia will also be partaking in the event.

Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, March 19, at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET. Click right here for the full list of theaters and showtimes in your area, and to download tickets. United States attendees will also receive an exclusive collectible when attending one of the theatrical showings, while supplies last.

The synopsis for the show reads, “In the winter of 1985, snow blankets the town and the horrors of the Upside Down are finally fading. Our heroes Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max have settled back into a normal life of D&D, snowball fights, and quiet days. But beneath the ice, something terrifying has awakened. Could it be from the Upside Down? From the depths of Hawkins Lab? Or from somewhere else entirely? Our heroes must race to solve this mystery and save Hawkins in this new story set in the Stranger Things universe.”
