Making a sequel to one of the most beloved comedies of television history is no small feat, and few shows are more cherished by fans than The Office. That puts its successor, The Paper, under a lot of pressure, so much so that both Steve Carell and John Krasinski visited the set on the first day of shooting to wish the cast well. It's a tradition that the original series went through, but the cultural relevance of The Office and higher expectations for shows in the streaming era make the stakes much higher, something Dunder Mifflin has never had to experience.
