When those harrowing first images of Sonic's early live-action design burned their way into the cultural consciousness, few would've predicted Sonic the Hedgehog becoming a defining franchise of the 2020s. Not only was the first movie a resounding success, two follow-ups have elicited just as much joy, introducing the likes of Knuckles, Shadow, and Amy Rose to the ever-expanding universe. Even Paramount's overlooked spinoff, Knuckles, delivered a few moments of greatness.
