As part of its TGS 2025 reveals, Square Enix showed off the actual Dragon Quest VII Reimagined dolls the developers created to scan and use as figure models for each of the party members in-game. In addition to a video showing the dolls being made, turned into models, and then shown in an event scene, those figures are on display at the event in Japan at the company’s booth.
This trailer begins with concept art of the hero character. Then, we see the fully dressed doll made to resemble our avatar. We watch as someone carves out the bangs plate to put ahead of the face, then attach a hat. That figure is then shown alongside other named characters, like Kiefer, Maribel, and Ruff. From there, a person is shown taking photos and scans to create the CG recreation. Finally, we see the hero in-game.

Prior to this latest reveal, Square Enix offered another kind of insight into this remake. It shared screenshots offering direct comparisons of certain scenes in the PS1 and 3DS versions in the new take on the title. That announcement also included screenshots showing each ally in-game.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined will come to the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on February 5, 2026. It is also on the PS1 and 3DS worldwide.
