The streaming era has raised the bar for crisp production and special effects in TV shows over the last two decades, yet the science fiction genre still hasn't surpassed the biggest hits that came before. To many, the Battlestar Galactica remake that aired from 2003 to 2009 is simply untouchable, and it's hard to argue. Even shows that have come close to the same quality and influence have been telling very different stories — such as the newer Star Trek shows, or Netflix's Galaxy Quest. However, Prime Video now has the chance to set the standard for sci-fi on TV in the coming generation. The streamer is adapting The Captive's War by The Expanse authors James S.A. Corey.
