As Stargate fans continue to mourn the loss of the new Amazon series that never was (and fight to see it revived somehow), many have been reflecting on the franchise's history. Indeed, most of us agree that Stargate Atlantis ought to have continued. It was a mistake for Syfy (then Sci-Fi Channel) to axe the series ahead of what could have been a stellar sixth season, but even before the official cancellation, there were plans to possibly continue SGA in a different medium, plans that may have culminated in a straight-to-video feature film titled Stargate: Extinction.
