The future of one of Prime Video’s most popular superhero shows just got a positive update. Months before the animated superhero drama returns with its fifth season, the streaming service has already renewed it for another installment. The renewal extends the run of one of Prime Video’s most successful original series and highlights continued confidence in the adaptation’s long-term future.

Invincible renewed for Season 6 at Prime Video, shares new record

According to Deadline, Prime Video has renewed Invincible for another season. The animated superhero series has been renewed for a sixth season despite Season 5 still being months away from release. The announcement also comes with a notable milestone for the adaptation. It has now become the joint-longest-running animated streaming original, matching Netflix’s BoJack Horseman.

The renewal continues a strong run for the series, which is based on Robert Kirkman’s comic book franchise. Skybound Entertainment reports that Season 4 became the most-watched season of Invincible so far and reached the Top 10 on Prime Video in more than 50 territories. The latest season concluded only recently, making the early Season 6 pickup another sign of the platform’s confidence in the show.

The update was revealed during Prime Video’s presentation at the Annecy International Animation Festival. Along with the renewal news, Kirkman confirmed that Jack Quaid has joined the cast of Season 5. Quaid will voice Chris, also known as Gravitator. Festival attendees were also shown a first-look image of the character and an exclusive preview clip. Season 5 is scheduled to debut next year.

Invincible centers on Mark Grayson, a high school student whose life changes after he develops superhuman powers inherited from his father, Nolan Grayson. As he steps into the role of the hero, Mark must confront escalating dangers.

The series remains one of Prime Video’s most successful animated titles and has generated significant online discussion. On Rotten Tomatoes, the show currently holds an average critics’ score of 99% and an audience score of 91%.
