Parallel Worlds is a fresh project from Paul Denton and Will Rees that showcases the two artists’ collaborative spirit and deep passion for trance.

Whether you realize it or not, the sounds of trance course through practically every genre within the electronic music scene. The genre’s hallmark euphoric moments, uplifting vocals, and mind-melting breakdowns are just some of the common elements that have found a home elsewhere. Still, the passion of artists who embrace everything there is to trance runs deep. Paul Denton and Will Rees are two champions in this space, and their newly launched project, Parallel Worlds, doubles as an effective love letter to its energetic, tech trance soundscapes.

While this might be a new project for Paul Denton and Will Rees, the two artists weren’t unfamiliar with each other. In fact, their shared history in the scene dates back a decade. Yet it wasn’t until 2024 that the lightbulb went off for them to start working together. “In 2024, we played a back-to-back set together at Trance Sanctuary presents FSOE, and the response was incredible,” Paul shared. “After the show, we started talking about the possibility of creating a new project together.” The result of that conversation was the creation of Parallel Worlds.

The idea behind Parallel Worlds was to create an alias where we could perform our own music exclusively as a duo. When you come to a Parallel Worlds set, every track you hear is a Parallel Worlds production. We wanted to make the experience as unique and exclusive as possible, which is something we feel is often missing in trance and dance music today.

The music the two have begun producing together has already received praise from tastemakers. Their first single, “Liberty,” found a home on famed label Subculture, while “Get High” was released on Dreamstate Records earlier this year. Both soundscapes clock in at 140 BPM, providing the perfect dose of energy to the night. Yet, surprisingly, these tracks, and others they’ve produced so far, haven’t been made in the same studio, mostly due to their busy schedules.

“Everything has been created remotely,” Paul Denton said. “We send projects, stems, and ideas back and forth online until the tracks are finished. So far, we’ve completed around 23 tracks under the Parallel Worlds name, which has been an amazing achievement considering we’ve done it all from different locations.”

Will Rees expanded on the 23 tracks Paul mentioned, assuring fans there is plenty of music ready to go. “The plan is to release our debut album early next year, with the first singles beginning to drop later in 2026,” he said. “We’re really excited for people to hear what’s coming.”

Although we’re months away from these fresh soundscapes, there’s a solid chance that those heading to Luminosity Beach Festival this weekend will get a taste of what Parallel Worlds has in store. The duo is slated to perform on Saturday at the festival’s Mainstage, and they will also have solo sets over the weekend.

Luminosity is a very special event and always a highlight of the year. I’ve been fortunate enough to play there six or seven times, and every experience has been memorable in its own way. The festival has become one of the most important gatherings in trance music, bringing together passionate fans and artists from all over the world and helping to keep the spirit of the genre alive.

Paul Denton also chimed in on the festival’s legacy, saying that two of his favorite moments were playing the Mainstage in 2019 and closing the festival in 2024. “Both were unforgettable experiences and career highlights for me,” he said.

Luminosity Beach Festival acts as a massive gathering for the global trance family, which has been on a rollercoaster ride over the past few decades. During this time, the genre has swung in popularity, and artists from other realms have plucked at its elements to make them their own. Yet, to Parallel Worlds, the future is bright for trance.

I’m genuinely excited about where trance is heading. I think we’re going to see a real resurgence of the genre over the next few years. The return of artists like Tiësto to the trance space, combined with a growing number of younger listeners discovering the music, makes for a very exciting future. The energy around trance feels stronger than it has in a long time.

That strong energy around trance can be felt in the music that Parallel Worlds creates, and the mix they dropped off today, ahead of their Luminosity Beach Festival appearance, is also filled with those vibes. “This mix is a great reflection of what Parallel Worlds is all about,” Will Rees said in closing. “It features our signature sound and showcases the direction we’re taking with the project. Fans can expect plenty of exclusive material, including some unreleased tracks that offer a glimpse into what’s coming from us in the months ahead.”
