Survivor is heading somewhere it has never gone before. Paramount unveiled a new take on the iconic competition franchise that changes everything fans know about the game.

A new animated Survivor movie takes the competition to a mystical island

Paramount Animation and CBS are developing an animated comedy based on the long-running reality series Survivor, a press release confirmed. Furthermore, Jeff Probst will executive produce the film. The movie will feature animal contestants competing on a mystical island for the title of sole Survivor.

According to the official logline, animals from around the globe gather on a remote and mystical island. There, they will compete for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to earn the crown. Notably, this marks the first time the franchise has expanded into animated theatrical territory.

Probst shared his excitement about the project on Instagram. “I’m so excited to be teaming up with Paramount Animation to bring you Survivor like you’ve never seen it before…in the animal kingdom!” he wrote. He added that the film “will be an all-out comedy with animals competing for the chance to be crowned the sole Survivor.”

Probst also explained the creative direction behind the concept in a video message. “Setting it in the world of animals gives us a whole new playground,” he said. He noted it retains “everything we love about Survivor” including “big personalities, funny characters, surprising alliances, competition, chaos” and “a lot of heart.”

Meanwhile, Jennifer Dodge leads Paramount Animation as president after her appointment in November. She previously served as president of PAW Patrol producers Spin Master. Additionally, the division recently announced The Naughty List from Robert Rodriguez and will release PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie on August 14, 2026.

On the other hand, Banijay, Amazon MGM, and CBS hold the rights to Survivor. The five-time Emmy Award-winning Probst hosts the series, which debuted on May 31, 2000. Currently, new editions are in production in Fiji and will air in fall 2026 on CBS.
