Cassie Plummer’s (Claire Sweeney)life could be about to fall apart in Coronation Street next week as a desperate attempt to expose Ross ends in disaster, leaving her isolated from the people she cares about most.

Cassie has never hidden her distrust of Ross, and with him growing closer to both Tracy and Tyrone, she’s becoming increasingly convinced that nobody else can see what she sees.

Determined to prove she’s right, Cassie takes matters into her own hands.

The drama begins when she receives a call from one of Ross’s former girlfriends, Alison Shave. When Ross overhears the conversation and recognises Alison’s name, alarm bells start ringing.

Sensing an opportunity, Cassie wastes no time gathering an audience.

She summons Steve, Tyrone, Tracy and Ross to the Rovers before introducing them to Alison in person. In front of everyone, Cassie reveals Alison’s side of the story, claiming Ross stole money from her and threatened her during their relationship.

It’s exactly the kind of revelation Cassie has been waiting for.

But while she hopes it will finally make everyone see Ross differently, it’s far from clear whether her bombshell will have the impact she’s hoping for.

Things become even harder for Cassie when she discovers Ross isn’t planning on going anywhere.

Later in the week, she joins Steve at the Rovers only to find Tyrone, Tracy and Ross celebrating together.

Ross then announces that he’s accepted a job at Highfield Prison and will be sticking around Weatherfield for the foreseeable future.

The news leaves Cassie fuming.

Storming out, she heads home where Steve tries to calm her down, insisting that if Ross really is hiding something, the truth will eventually come out on its own.

But Cassie is no longer prepared to wait.

The following day, Fiz insists on hosting a birthday tea for Ross, bringing together Tracy, Steve and Cassie.

Unfortunately for Cassie, it’s an evening that quickly turns into her worst nightmare.

As everyone praises Ross and welcomes him into the family, Tracy gushes about how happy she is and even describes Ross as a ‘real alpha male.’

Already struggling to bite her tongue, Cassie steps outside for some fresh air.

When she returns, she finds the whole room singing Happy Birthday to Ross.

Watching everyone celebrate the man she believes is fooling them all proves too much, and Cassie decides she can’t stay silent any longer.

Whatever she says, it does little to improve the situation.

In fact, things are about to get much worse.

Arriving at No.1 later on, Cassie is horrified to realise Ross has stayed the night and Tracy appears to have completely forgiven him.

Then she overhears Ross mention that he’s due to start his new prison job and will need to pass a drugs test.

It’s at that moment that a dangerous idea begins to form.

After noticing Amy preparing smoothies and filling Ross’s travel mug, Cassie secretly crushes up some of Tyrone’s strong painkillers and slips them into the drink.

Believing she’s finally found a way to expose Ross, she makes a quick getaway.

What she doesn’t realise is that she’s made a huge mistake.

In her rush to leave, Cassie accidentally drops the empty pill packet.

The evidence soon finds its way into Steve’s hands, and he quickly works out exactly what she’s done.

The fallout is devastating.

Furious and deeply disappointed, Steve tells Cassie their relationship is over.

And if that wasn’t painful enough, Tyrone also reaches the end of his tether and throws her out.

After spending months trying to convince everyone that Ross isn’t who he claims to be, Cassie instead finds herself becoming the villain in everyone else’s eyes.
