17 Academy Awards, 30 Oscar nominations, and the most stunning cinematography audiences might ever see on the silver screen. Of course, those accolades belong to The Lord of the Ringstrilogy. Cinephiles and critics alike have argued for decades now that the three-film series is the best trilogy of all time. However, most audiences don't have nine hours and 17 minutes of free time to sit down and watch three films in a row. Increase that amount of time to 11 hours and 36 minutes for the extended versions, and that's a ridiculous ask for any series, let alone for rewatch potential.
