What happens in The Carpenter’s Son teaser trailer?
The Carpenter’s Son teaser previews a twisted, dark horror movie that is centered around Jesus’ childhood. Cage is playing The Carpenter in the film, while the cast also includes FKA Twigs (The Crow) as Mother and Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place) as the Boy.
“Inspired by the apocryphal Infancy Gospel of Thomas, The Carpenter’s Son tells the dark story of a family hiding out in Roman Egypt,” a description of the plot reads, per Deadline. “Known only as ‘the Boy’, the son is driven to doubt by another mysterious child and rebels against his guardian, the Carpenter, revealing inherent powers and a fate beyond his comprehension. As he exercises his own power, the Boy and his family become the target of horrors both natural and divine.”
The movie is written and directed by Lofty Nathan. Cage produces The Carpenter’s Son for Saturn Films alongside Alex Hughes and Riccardo Maddalosso at Spacemaker and Julie Viez for Cinenovo. Executive producers include David Levine and Nick Shumaker for Anonymous Content, Noëmie Devide for Goodfellas, Eugene Kotlyarenko for Spacemaker, Jennifer Venditti, Nathan, and Theo Vieljeux.
“With The Carpenter’s Son, Lotfy Nathan has delivered a genre-bending spectacle that defies expectations at every turn,” Magnolia Pictures co-CEOs Eamonn Bowles and Dori Begley previously said in a statement.
Cage recently starred alongside Heather Graham and Stephen Dorff in a Western movie called Gunslingers. He’s also attached to play John Madden in a new sports biopic that is being directed by David O. Russell.
