The last few years have been somewhat dry for God of War fans following the 2022 release of God of War: Ragnarök, which narrowly lost out on winning Game of the Year to Baldur’s Gate 3. God of War fans were taken aback late last year during PlayStation’s State of Play event, when Santa Monica announced it was working on a full ground-up remake of the original God of War trilogy, which focused on Kratos’ complete dismantling of the Greek gods. It was unclear what lies for Kratos beyond the events of God of War: Ragnarök, though, as the game seemed to bring his story to a natural end. However, just a few weeks ago, Santa Monica shattered the world once more by announcing the next entry in the franchise, God of War: Laufey, which will focus on Kratos’ late wife and Atreus’ mother, the Giant Laufey (voiced by Deborah Ann Woll).
