New Dragon Quest Smash/Grow Mobile Game Announced

Square Enix confirmed another new Dragon Quest game, and this time it is a mobile title with the subtitle Smash/Grow. There are no details about how it works or screenshots. Everything will come up in the first worldwide teaser trailer debuting at 6am PT/9am ET on September 17, 2025. The logo showed up, and it includes art that makes the slash look like a strike effect and shows a standard Slime flying forward through the center of the “O.”

While there are no trailers or details about the nature of the new Dragon Quest mobile game, the announcement trailer placeholder on YouTube mentioned companies involved. One is Sugiyama Kobo, which was founded by composer Koichi Sugiyama. The details at the bottom noted music that will appear in the video will be from that company. Yuji Hori created Armor Project and is owner of the series IP, and Bird Studio is the production company created by Akira Toriyama. No actual developer was mentioned. These are all standard mentions for entries in the series.

This comes as one Dragon Quest mobile game goes away and another mainline entry gets a new incarnation. Dragon Quest of the Stars closes on October 31, 2025. Meanwhile, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined heads to consoles and PCs in 2026.

Dragon Quest Smash/Grow is in development for Android and Apple iOS devices.
