With so many mystery shows arriving on streaming lately, from The Last Thing He Told Me to Imperfect Women, it's getting harder for any one series to stand out. That is part of what makes The Åre Murdersfeel like such a hidden gem. The smart Swedish Netflix crime drama is set to return for Season 2 in 2026, with production reportedly beginning this past February. Based on Viveca Sten’s novels Hidden in Snow and Hidden in the Shadows, the five-episode 2025 series follows Hanna Ahlander (CarlaSehn), a Stockholm detective who gets pulled into the case of a missing girl while visiting the small town of Åre.
