The streaming era has all but forced every one of the most-popular streaming services in the world to produce a big-budget action show to satisfy subscriber bases. Prime Video contributed to the rise in this trend with the debut of Reacher, the series based on the hit novels by Lee Child and starring Alan Ritchson. After three full seasons of Reacher under its belt, Prime Video announced just last week that Season 4 would be released in August, but the streamer sealed the fate of the show long before then by renewing it for Season 5. Other platforms like Peacock have settled on The Day of the Jackal as Reacher replacement-type shows, while even Prime Video has found in-house substitutes for Reacher, including Cross, the hit detective series starring Aldis Hodge.
