Gilmore Girlshas become the quintessential mother/daughter series for a reason, but it is far from the only one, and Netflix's recent series about that dynamic is just as addictive. Like the beloved series about the Gilmores, Ginny & Georgiafollows a single mother, Georgia (Brianne Howey), and her sixteen-year-old daughter, Ginny (Antonia Gentry), but it takes a darker approach as it explores the complex family dynamics of the Millers and slowly unveils Georgia's past. Despite being considered a comedy-drama, the 2021 series never shies away from difficult conversations about race, mental health, and morality, which separates it from the feel-good tone of Gilmore Girls despite their surface similarities.
