Music On Festival Abruptly Canceled After Permit Revoked

Music On Festival has been forced to cancel its 2026 edition after the Municipality of Amsterdam revoked its permit.

Lovers of house music from near and far flocked to Amsterdam this week with plans to experience all that Music On Festival had to offer. Yet those hopes were dashed earlier today when the festival, slated to take place on May 9-10 at Meerpark, was suddenly canceled before the gates opened.

“This morning, the Municipality of Amsterdam revoked our permit to hold the festival. We had no choice but to cancel,” said the Music On team on Instagram earlier today. “Please do not travel to the festival grounds, you will not be able to enter.” The organizers went on to say that they were “shocked and deeply disappointed” by the outcome and that the revocation of the permit came as a surprise.

Hours later, the organizers shared another update, stating that their fight to keep it moving forward was unsuccessful and that the festival would not take place on Saturday or Sunday. “We fully understand the uncertainty and confusion of today, and we truly appreciate your patience and support,” the follow-up statement reads.

All is not lost for those who had made their way to Amsterdam for Music On Festival, though, as the Music On By Night parties are both slated to continue this weekend. Both shows, set to take place at Hemkade 48, are fully sold out, with the organizers urging fans not to go to the venue without a valid ticket.

Music On Festival was set to feature performances from artists such as Josh Baker, Luke Dean, Max Dean, Franky Rizardo, Dennis Cruz, and the brand’s founder, Marco Carola.
