Morrissey cancels US show hours before due to ‘credible threat to his life’

Morrissey has cancelled two shows in the US in a social media post telling fans there has been a ‘credible threat on his life’.

In a post on his Instagram account, he announced tonight’s show in Mashantucket, Connecticut, was no longer going ahead.

The caption read: ‘In recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey’s life.

‘Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and audience, tonight’s engagement at Foxwoods has been cancelled.

‘We appreciate your understanding.’

In a second post, the former Smith’s singer, 66, also shared his show in Boston tomorrow night at MGM Music Hall is cancelled ‘while ongoing investigations are being carried out against the threat to Morrissey’s life.’

The music artist still has several shows ahead of him on this tour, including shows in Mexico and Canada.

No further details have been provided on what the threat entailed.
