Milpitas jewelry store owner opens fire during attempted robbery

Multiple suspects attempted to rob a jewelry store Wednesday afternoon in Milpitas but were possibly thwarted by a business owner with a gun, according to police. Just before 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a call about a smash-and-grab robbery at a jewelry store by the Seafood City Supermarket near the 1530 block of Landess Avenue. According to police, between 10 and 15 suspected rushed into the business; at the time, only the business owner and an employee were present.
