Michael Fassbender's spy face has been tested in the last three years. He starred alongside Cate Blanchett in Steven Soderbergh's 2025 spy thriller Black Bag, playing a top British Intelligence officer. And although the sleek spy thriller did not achieve the level of financial success envisioned, it was a success nonetheless, earning an impressive 96% on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Critics and viewers singled out Fassbender's performance as George, especially when paired with Blanchett. However, a year before Black Bag, Fassbender also delivered another masterful performance, playing another spy in one of the best espionage thrillers of the decade.
