The sort of movie whose conception and execution could've been parodied on shows such as The Studio or The Franchise, Assassin's Creed was designed to start a new series, but its critical and commercial failure put a damper on those plans. It featured rising star Michael Fassbender, reuniting with arthouse director Justin Kurzel on his first big-budget project, and surrounded by a host of critically acclaimed actors from around the world. But the movie tanked upon release, pleasing neither critics nor fans of the video game series upon which it was based. Assassin's Creed is nearly a decade old now, and audiences in the U.K. have only until this month to check it out, as it's leaving Netflix on October 1.
