The Marvel Cinematic Universe is all about the crossovers, with fans heading to theaters to see their favorite superheroes collide on the big screen. However, ahead of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, Luke Cage actor Mike Colter has made a case for why he doesn’t want to see the Harlem-based superhero fighting universe-ending threats with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

What did Mike Colter say about appearing in Avengers movies?

During an Edmonton Expo Q&A panel, Colter revealed that he would rather see Luke Cage remain a street-level hero than join the Avengers to take on universe-ending threats like Josh Brolin’s Thanos or Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. “Did you see what they did to Hulk?” Colter asked those in attendance, referring to how Thanos laid a beatdown on Hulk at the start of Avengers: Infinity War. “Come on, man, if they’re gonna do that to Hulk, they’d have Thanos absolutely wipe the floor with Luke.”

So far, the only other superheroes that Colter’s Luke Cage has crossed paths with in the MCU are Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones), having been part of the superhero team The Defenders with them.

Colter hasn’t been seen in the MCU since Luke Cage wrapped its second season on Netflix back in 2018. However, there have been plenty of rumors stating that Marvel is planning on bringing back Colter as Luke Cage in a future MCU series, likely Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Colter even addressed the possibility of an MCU return at Edmonton Expo, remarking, “I don’t know why people keep asking me this. There are no signs. It’s not like they’ve just recently revived one of the Marvel Netflix shows.”

Born Again Season 2 will follow Cox’s Daredevil as he puts together an army to go up against Mayor Kingpin and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force. With Ritter already confirmed to appear in the upcoming season as Jessica Jones, it makes sense that Daredevil might reach out to the rest of his former Defenders teammates for help.

Until Colter’s Luke Cage return is announced, MCU fans can stream his self-titled series on Disney+ as they wait for Avengers: Secret Wars to hit theaters in December 2027.
