The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Saturday that six prospects have been reassigned to their junior clubs as part of the first round of cuts at training camp.
Defencemen Rylan Fellinger (Flint Firebirds, OHL) and Nathan Mayes (Spokane Chiefs, WHL), along with forwards Tyler Hopkins (Kingston Frontenacs, OHL), Harry Nansi (Owen Sound Attack, OHL), Matthew Hlacar (Kitchener Rangers, OHL) and Sam McCue (Brantford Bulldogs, OHL), will be heading back to their respective junior teams.
The moves come as Toronto gets set for pre-season action Sunday. CHL teams have already started their seasons so these moves also afford these prospects a chance to get into games with their junior clubs.
Hopkins, Nansi, Hlacar, and Fellinger were all selected by the Leafs in the 2025 NHL Draft.
