Jason Statham has played his fair share of tough guys, but few roles in his career match the sheer chaos of Chev Chelios, the adrenaline-addicted hitman at the center of 2006’s Crank and its sequel Crank: High Voltage. Both films, long celebrated as cult classics, are now streaming on Tubi — giving action fans the perfect excuse to revisit (or discover) one of the most insane franchises of the 2000s. Conceived by writer-directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, Crank was originally imagined with Johnny Knoxville in mind. Instead, Statham signed on — though he was unsure if he could pull off the script’s comedic elements. What he didn’t hesitate on were the stunts, most of which he performed himself.
