Jared Leto Doc Producers Break Silence After Actor Denies Sexual Assault Allegations

The producers of the BBC documentary examining allegations against Jared Leto have addressed the actor’s response after he denied all claims of sexual assault. Their comments follow the release of the documentary and an investigation featuring allegations from multiple women. Addressing Leto’s response, the filmmakers discussed the significance of the investigation.

Mike Radford and Jessica Sartenaer, the producers behind the BBC documentary Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, have responded after the actor publicly denied multiple sexual assault allegations made against him. Speaking following the documentary’s release, the pair addressed the actor’s statement in an interview with Deadline.

The documentary, along with a BBC investigation, features allegations from 10 women, including nine who publicly accused Leto for the first time. The reported incidents allegedly occurred between 2002 and 2016, with four women claiming they were teenagers at the time. According to Entertainment Weekly, Leto rejected the allegations. He said, “I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false.”

Discussing the wider implications of the case, executive producer Mike Radford told the publication, “The Jared Leto case is a bellwether on where we are on the MeToo movement. There has been a lot of pushback in that area, and how the industry responds to the allegations about Jared Leto will tell us where the industry — both music and film — stands when serious allegations are made against one of their most powerful people.”

Responding to the denial, producer Jessica Sartenaer argued that the allegations are now receiving greater public attention than previous reports involving the actor. “People haven’t been paying attention,” she said, referring to earlier allegations published by Air Mail in 2025. She also questioned what the latest accusations could mean for Leto’s acting career. 

Sartenaer stated, “I feel like it will be very difficult for him to ride this one out. People are [now] really paying attention, and I just don’t see how he could be attached to another Hollywood project. However, I think his music career is maybe separate from that. He’s still got some diehard Thirty Seconds to Mars fans.”

The producer also praised the women who participated in the investigation, saying, “The courage of the women who have come forward for this investigation is just immeasurable.”
