The revelation comes through a conversation between Rue (Zendaya) and Lexi (Maude Apatow). While catching up in Los Angeles, Rue nudges Lexi to reconnect with Fezco. Rue tells her, “You know, you really should call Fez.” When Lexi hesitates, citing a busy schedule and conflicting hours, Rue gives a straightforward update on his status. “Just pick up the phone and call him. It’s not like he’s going anywhere. He’s in prison for 30 years,” Rue says.

This dialogue confirms that Fezco survived the climactic SWAT raid that left his adopted brother Ashtray dead in the Season 2 finale. While Angus Cloud does not appear on screen in the premiere, his character is felt through these mentions.

Creator Sam Levinson spoke about the decision to keep Fezco alive in Euphoria Season 3’s narrative rather than writing him off. Levinson explained to Variety, “I thought, if I couldn’t keep him alive in life, then maybe within this show I could keep him alive.” Levinson further shared that the story was not just about preservation but also about honoring the actor’s spirit, adding that Cloud “would be cracking up at his storyline” in the final episodes.
