Netflix viewers have been left ‘actually scared’ by a horror film on Netflix, with a star-packed cast.

Cobweb was first released last year, starring The Boys legend Antony Starr and Lizzy Caplan as overprotective parents Mark and Carol, whose son Peter (Woody Norman) hears mysterious tapping and a voice coming from inside the walls of their home.

Trying to get to the bottom of their uninvited guest, the youngster unwittingly uncovers a ‘dark secret that his sinister parents have kept hidden from him’.

The flick is now on Netflix in the UK and previously stormed up the top 10 chart on the streaming platform, with many raving about the terrifying scenes – while also urging potential viewers to look past the mixed Rotten Tomatoes score.

Now, though, fans only have a few days left to watch the film before it leaves the streamer on the 10th.

Cobweb currently has a 59% critics score compared to an audience rating of 71%, but fans have heaped praise on the scenes, insisting they couldn’t stop thinking about it for days after watching.

Casey P said: ‘This is an awesome underrated instant Halloween/October Classic. Not sure why it didn’t connect and find a wider audience but I love this film. All these normal troupes and horror cliché get turned a bit and viewer from a Child’s POV.

‘It’s a Fairy Tale from the people in its point of view. Wonderful film. Excited to see what the director does next.’

D E agreed: ‘Surprisingly Good spooky movie. It used different elements of scary movies and came up with is own unique story. It had me thinking about it a couple days after watching – wanting to know more.’

‘Blew all my expectations out of the water. Was lucky to see this in theaters last month but my GOD. Such a great, terrifying horror movie that is amazingly directed and has multiple great performances,’ Jonathan G praised.

Holly K wrote: ‘This was a fantastic, suspenseful, satisfying, bonafide, scary movie. Everyone played their role brilliantly! I enjoyed the ride and was actually scared [sic].’

As Will R added: ‘This movie is bananas in the best way possible. First half is like a very dark fairytale and the second half is an outrageous monster film.’

Samuel Bodin, most known for his Marianne series on Netflix, was behind the camera for Cobweb and wanted to bring out an unnerving ‘nightmare’ for the audience.

‘To create fear, it’s always a question of preparation and intention,’ he told IndieWire.

‘I wanted to play with the shadows to create that feeling you have when you’re a kid where you can hear your parents but not always see them or understand what they’re doing.

‘I thought a lot about Danny in The Shining and what [Jennifer Kent] captured in The Babadook about childhood.

For me, it’s like telling a story around the campfire. With every shot, I’m trying to convince everyone to have the same nightmare in the same way.’

Bring it on…

Cobweb is available to watch now on Netflix.
