One year after departing Today, Hoda Kotb has revealed her plans for the future, which may surprise many of her fans. Kotb will speak at Fordham University’s 2026 commencement. The university announced this on April 16, 2026. Kotb left Today as a co-host in January 2025 after announcing it in September 2024.
What Hoda Kotb is doing after leaving Today
Former Today host Hoda Kotb left Today over a year ago, and since then, there has been little news about her whereabouts. But it seems the veteran host has now taken up a new role.
Kotb will speak at Fordham University’s 2026 commencement, as announced by the university on April 16, 2026. Moreover, Kotb will join graduates at the Rose Hill campus in the Bronx on May 16, 2026, where she will receive an honorary degree from the university.
“We are proud to announce that our 181st Commencement Speaker is Hoda Kotb,” the school announced before adding, “Celebrated broadcaster, bestselling author, and CEO Hoda Kotb will receive an honorary degree at Fordham University’s 181st Commencement on May 16 at the Rose Hill campus.”
Fordham University president Tania Tetlow also spoke about Kotb. She said, “She has led a truly kaleidoscopic media career, boldly reporting on world events and sharing others’ stories—as well as her own—with utmost integrity,…We at Fordham are blessed to have her as our commencement speaker.”
Previously, Hoda Kotb was part of Today for nearly two decades. She began her stint on the show back in 2007 and served till 2025. “I know I’m making the right decision, but it’s a painful one,” Kotb wrote in a letter during her exit. “They say two things can be right at the same time, and I’m feeling that so deeply right now. I love you, and it’s time for me to leave the show,” she added.
Despite her exit from Today, Kotb remains a prominent figure in the industry.
