Now in its second month of release worldwide, Project Hail Mary continues to reap the benefits of an extended theatrical window. Most studio movies these days are released on premium video-on-demand platforms a month after debuting in theaters, but Amazon delayed Project Hail Mary's PVOD debut to maximize its theatrical potential. The sci-fi movie has exceeded box-office expectations so far, and will likely pass the $300 million mark domestically and the $650 million mark worldwide by the end of its run. This would be a tremendous result for the tentpole, which Amazon is using as an example of the big-screen entertainment it's committing to producing. Project Hail Mary, based on a bestseller by Andy Weir, stars Ryan Gosling in the lead role.
