Following the success of Band of Brothers, there were high expectations for a new HBO miniseries that centered on a historical conflict. However, the modern perception of America’s involvement in international conflicts called for a completely different type of series. Generation Killis a grueling, devastating insight into the Iraq War that is based around the singular activities of the men in the Marine Corps' 1st Reconnaissance Battalion. Generation Kill served as a warning about the consequences of being involved in an international conflict with no concrete plans, and has sadly held up as being more relevant today than ever before.
