For weeks, HBO Max’s defining conversation piece has been The Pitt, the hospital drama led by Noah Wyle. It’s a series that turned procedural pressure into prestige and backed it up with elite numbers: an 8.9 IMDb rating, a 97% Rotten Tomatoes score, and long stretches at #1 across the platform’s global charts. That kind of run usually belongs to the show everybody respects. What makes this new shift interesting is that the series now stealing the spotlight from The Pitt comes from a completely different lane, powered less by institutional realism than by cultural heat, star gravity, and the kind of controversy that keeps a title permanently lodged in the algorithm. With Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie, and Eric Dane attached, it already had the cast to pull off that kind of surge.
