Hannah Einbinder won a Primetime Emmy Award for Hacks in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series category. During her acceptance speech, she jokingly reflected on her Emmy losing streak. She then thanked the creators for giving her the opportunity and expressed her gratitude to the cast and crew. At the end of her speech, a word was bleeped, leaving many to wonder why.

What did Hannah Einbinder say during her acceptance speech at Emmys 2025?

Einbinder received her first-ever Emmy for Hacks in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category. She won for playing Ava Daniels, a struggling comedy writer. At the start of her acceptance speech, she reflected on her past Hacks snubs. She had been nominated three times before, finally winning on her fourth nomination.

She said, “Thank you, wow. I really, sorry, I was just really committed to the personal narrative that I had that it’s actually cooler to continue to lose. I was pretty committed to that. Had to be, right? But, this is cool too. This is also a punk rock.”

She expressed her thanks to the creators for “changing my life in every conceivable way. But not just by giving me a great gig, but by being my friends and being my family.” Becoming a bit emotional, she went on to thank her co-star Jean Smart, who plays Deborah Vance. “I want to thank Jean Smart, who is like the sun, and I just stand in her warmth. And I also want to thank the cast and crew of Hacks, and I’ll pay the difference. Sorry. Finally, I just want to say, I just want to say,” she added.

In her closing remarks, she said, “Finally, go birds, f— ICE and free Palestine. Thank you.” Networks are required to follow broadcasting standards, which mandate censoring offensive language during live events. As a result, CBS bleeped out the swear word from the actress’s speech.
