Is there a despicable act that Carl Webster, (Jonathan Howard) hasn’t committed – for instance, shooting a family member? Don’t worry. Coronation Street’s got you covered.
Carl doesn’t have the best relationship with his brother Kevin Webster’ (Michael Levell). For a starters, they’re not brothers at all. Not since Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) dropped the bombshell that she’s not Carl’s sister, but his mum. What does that make Kevin? An uncle? A brother? A bruncle?
I’ll tell you what it makes them – enemies more bitter than a pint at the Rovers. Even before this revelation, family relations between two of the most scowling men in Weatherfield weren’t exactly cosy. Mainly because Carl destroyed Kevin’s marriage by seducing his wife Abi (Sally Carman-Duttine) only to ditch her for a quick fling James Bailey (Jason Callender) when things got boring.
Not only that, but Carl was responsible for the hit-and-run that putKev’s best mate Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) in a wheelchair.
Oh, and then there’s the whole ‘taking advantage of his mum’s dementia to gaslight her out of her money and business’ thing.
Most of all Kev can never forgive Carl for drunkenly causing the multi-car pileup that killed Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) and letting Debbie plead guilty to the crime in his place – especially since her time in prison caused her dementia to get significantly worse.
To Kevin’s frustration, Debbie has historically given the scummy fruit of her loins the benefit of the doubt despite all his dastardly deeds. No wonder Kev teamed up with Deb’s husband Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) to get rid of the two-faced toe-rag for good.
Turns out, Kev needn’t have bothered. With Carl’s selfish behaviour negatively affecting her condtion, Debbie ultimately decided to give up on her boy’s redemption and gave him two grand to leave her life forever.
However, Kevin was not about to let his worthless nephew flee the Cobbles with two thousand pounds of his sister’s hard earned cash – so he nicked it back, and sent Carl a taunting selfie of himself with the money.
Furious, Carl managed to achieve the impossible and sink to a brand new low, sneaking into the garage at night to sabotage a car his uncle was working on. Unluckily for the Worst Webster, Tyrone was also in the garage recording his sabotage on his phone when he accidentally knocked the car jack… sending the vehicle crashing down on Carl.
Since his accident, Carl’s trying his best to do the whole reformed sinner schtick and change his ways, but it’s only a matter of time before turns back to the dark side.

This week’s episodes will see Carl ask Kevin for a reference so he can apply for a job at another garage, only to be predictably told by his bruncle to whistle for it.
Unfortunately, Carl’s constant need for cash makes him easy prey for dodgy car dealer Fiona Morley (Sara Poyzer), who he has previously helped unload stolen motors through Kevin’s garage.
Fortunately, Weatherfield’s answer to Grand Theft Auto fell apart when Kevin and Ronnie tried to pin the whole crooked enterprise on Carl, with Fiona’s assistance. But when Ronnie had a crisis of conscience about the plan, a disgruntled Fiona confessed everything to a furious Carl.
Now Fiona’s back as the devil on Carl’s shoulder, offering him some more dodgy work to tempt him back into crime.
In next week’s episodes, Kevin will discover just how far Carl has fallen into the criminal underworld when he discovers a gun in the garage.
While watchinga video of Ruby on Tyrone’s phone, Kevin inadvertently accesses the video of Carl sabotaging the brakes on his car. He’s left dumbfounded to realise that his nephew tries to kill him.
Incensed, Kevin storms over to Carl and angrily reveals that he knows about his little attempt at sabotage.
Hearing the commotion, Tyrone and Ronnie hurry over. Kevin’s incandescent to learn that they were both fully aware of Carl’s crimes.
Ronnie suggests that for Debbie’s sake they all bury the hatchet but Kevin refuses point blank and, picking up a wrench, advances on Carl.
Carl pulls out the package he picked up from Fiona to reveal a gun!
The men stare at the gun as Ronnie asserts nobody’s going anywhere until they’ve found a resolution.
Convinced the gun is a fake, Kevin picks it up and aims it at Carl. Ronnie’s horrified. As he tries to wrestle it from him, the gun goes off and they all react in horror.
Did the bullet find its target?
