The San Francisco Giants are set to lose Matt Chapman after the third baseman was suspended for a push during Tuesday’s bench-clearing incident against the Colorado Rockies.

MLB announced Wednesday that Chapman received a one-game suspension for shoving Rockies starter Kyle Freeland as both teams ran onto the field.

Chapman chose to appeal the decision, so the discipline will not be handed down until that process is complete.

Freeland, Chapman and Giants shortstop Willy Adames were all ejected from the game after the Rockies southpaw took exception to Rafael Devers admiring a home run in the top of the first inning.

MLB also announced that Freeland, Adames and Devers received undisclosed fines for their roles on the play.

Devers hammered a sweeper over the right field wall, and then Freeland shouted at him as he neared first base.

That caused several players to charge toward the infield, where Chapman pushed Freeland. Adames was also in the middle of the scrum.

The umpires restored order before sorting out the situation and announcing the ejections. It did not appear that any punches were thrown.

Devers — a three-time all-star — waited at first base while the umpires were meeting and then trotted around the bases several minutes after he actually hit the homer.
