Asher Antonyzyn explains why Danny could join the mob in General Hospital

In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Asher Antonyzyn answered whether Dany would join the mob. He shared how losing his mom and the idea of never meeting his father has taken a toll on Danny.

Antonyzyn stated, “It’s definitely a lot for him, and I don’t think Danny really knows how to process it.” He further added, “I think the scenes where Jason told him that he was going to be leaving is where he realized, ‘Well, who knows how long my dad could be gone?’ Last time it was like, what, 12 years?”

Antonyzyn continued, “I think that’s where it really hit him.” He added that Danny later, “had the scenes where his dad was taken away, and instead of feeling the sadness of that, it fueled the anger in him about what happened to his father.” Antonyzyn then shared how his character is unable to figure out things and is “trying to act tough.”

In the episode, Danny told Sonny that he wants to get back on the WSB for what they did to his father and wants to be included in the mob. However, Sonny rejected the idea and thought Jason wouldn’t like it either. Antonyzyn addressed this scene, saying, “Personally, I think it’s pretty cool that Danny wants to be just like his dad.” He claimed that it might not be a safe route, but “definitely one that could be a lot of fun to act!”

The actor also answered what Danny could have done if Sonny had agreed. “I don’t think he knows exactly what that whole thing would entail. He doesn’t have a plan.” Antonyzyn explained. He continued, “He just wants to do something! Right now, he’s angry, and he thinks this is what would be best for him and is the only outlet that he has access to.”
