General Hospital Casts New Charlotte as Scarlett Fernandez Leaves

Beginning September 8, General Hospital introduced a new face to one of its long-running characters. The soap opera recast the role of Charlotte Cassadine, the daughter of Valentin Cassadine and Lulu Spencer, with young actress Bluesy Burke. It also means the end of Scarlett Fernandez’s long association with the character.

Her performances earned praise from fans, especially during Charlotte’s more complex teenage years, including her tumultuous relationship with Anna Devane and her loyalty to her fugitive father, Valentin.

Scarlett Fernandez left General Hospital in 2021 before making a brief return in 2023. At the time, she expressed her gratitude to viewers and the team, sharing how meaningful the role was to her. Earlier this year, her character Charlotte went on the run with Valentin, making her absence on-screen noticeable. With her exit now official, Port Charles is welcoming Bluesy Burke to Charlotte’s story.

Bluesy Burke now takes on the role of Charlotte Cassadine on General Hospital. The 17-year-old actress has strong roots in entertainment. She is the daughter of Twilight star Billy Burke, who famously played Charlie Swan, and actress Pollyanna Rose. Bluesy made her screen debut as a baby in her father’s project Luster and later appeared in Olivia Wilde’s acclaimed coming-of-age film Booksmart.

Burke’s take on the role comes at an important time. General Hospital’s head writers, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten, teased that she could become a key player in Valentin’s arc, using her bond with him to influence decisions.
