Caitlin Clark was not in the lineup for Indy for the game against Seattle, but she is not too far from returning. “She went through it yesterday… I want to see her in practice,” Stephanie White shared back then, as CC participated in a walkthrough as part of her ramp-up process. But that was on Monday, and it’s Friday today, and still, CC is not in the lineup for a crucial game versus the Sparks. Will the Fever have to sail without CC in an important game?
They’re used to it now. No, we’re not saying this lightly, but White herself mentioned it while addressing the challenges of playing without the 23-year-old Iowa native. During a recent press interaction, a reporter asked HC about facing the Sparks for the fourth time this season, highlighting the team’s adjustments with new point guards and the impact of Clark’s absence.
White acknowledged the difficulty, noting that Clark “hasn’t played a whole lot this season,” and that playing without her multiple times is “probably higher than most.” CC has been sidelined since July 15 due to a right groin injury, missing 16 consecutive games. She’s been limited to just 13 games so far, enough to average 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game.
So while she’s the Fever’s offensive core, the squad has had to rely heavily on the likes of Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell. Their contributions have been crucial in keeping Indiana competitive in the playoff race.
(This is a developing story…)
