Every song on ‘The Shards’ soundtrack

The new thriller The Shards has arrived, but what songs have featured in the series so far? Find out below.

Based on Bret Easton Ellis’ semi-autobiographical 2023 novel, the show is set in Los Angeles in 1981 and it centres on aspiring writer Bret (Igby Rigney), whose final year at an elite prep school is disrupted by the arrival of a mysterious new student Robert Mallory (Homer Gere).

Robert’s appearance coincides with a series of killings by The Trawler, a serial killer targeting teenagers across the city. Kaia Gerber, Hayes Warner, Graham Campbell, Wes Bentley and Evan Rachel Wood also star, while Ryan Murphy serves as the series’ executive producer.

The first two episodes of The Shards were released on FX in the US and on Disney+ in the UK on Thursday (August 6), with the rest of the 10-episode series to follow weekly. Check out the trailer here:

In a four-star review of the show, NME wrote: “While the show doesn’t over-egg the fact that Bret is supposed to be Easton Ellis himself – aside from a brief mention of Less Than Zero, the debut novel he would publish in 1985 – the idea that the author of American Psycho should grow up in a land filled with them is tantalising. Playing with notions of paranoia, we’re left wondering if Robert could be connected to the murderous spree that’s left the city paralysed with fear.”

The show includes an original score from David Klotz and Morgan Kibby, while Troye Sivan has contributes original music for the show, inspired by its 1980s setting.

The show also leans into the period by including a number of needle drops that evoke the music of that era, including tracks from Duran Duran, The Pretenders, The Human League and others.
