Few bands took the 80s by storm like Duran Duran. The band formed in Birmingham, England in 1978 and by 1980 had settled on the now classic lineup comprised of vocalist Simon LeBon, guitarist Andy Taylor, bassist John Taylor, drummer Roger Taylor and keyboardist Nick Rhodes. Inspired by the likes of David Bowie, Chic, Roxy Music, the quintet created a synth-pop, new wave sound that fused some elements of the fading disco scene.
