Euphoria Season 4 Gets Answer From Creator After Zendaya’s Ending Comment

Sam Levinson and Zendaya are not quite on the same page when it comes to Euphoria’s future, and the creator is making no promises. As Season 3 prepares to premiere, the two key figures behind the HBO drama gave very different answers about whether fans will ever see a Season 4.

Euphoria creator Sam Levinson has not ruled out a Season 4, but says he genuinely does not know if it will happen. Speaking at the Season 3 premiere, he told Variety he writes “every season like it’s the last season.” In a separate interview with ExtraTV, he said plainly, “I have no idea.”

Levinson said his immediate focus is delivering a strong Season 3 finish. “I’ve just been finishing episodes seven and eight, and I’ve been cutting,” he said. “I just want to deliver a fucking slam dunk season.” He added that any future season depends on what HBO wants and what he feels he can deliver.

Star Zendaya has been more direct about the show’s future. During a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, she said she believes Season 3 is the final installment. “I think so, yeah,” she said, adding, “That closure is coming.” HBO has not made any official announcement regarding future seasons.

Season 3 jumps five years ahead from the Season 2 finale. Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) and Nate (Jacob Elordi) now live married in the suburbs, while Rue (Zendaya) works off her debt to drug dealer Laurie (Martha Kelly). Jules (Hunter Schafer) attends art school, and Maddy (Alexa Demie) works at a Hollywood talent agency.

The new season features a large ensemble cast including Sharon Stone, Natasha Lyonne, Danielle Deadwyler, and Rosalía, among many others. Levinson, Zendaya, and Drake all return as executive producers. The official Season 3 logline reads: “A group of childhood friends wrestle with the virtue of faith, the possibility of redemption, and the problem of evil.”

Euphoria Season 3 premieres on HBO on April 12 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
