Emmy Rossum’s next TV project now has a release date and a first look. The former Shameless star leads Hulu’s new thriller, Furious, arriving this summer. Hulu has also shared several images from the upcoming crime drama. The series puts Rossum at the center of a dangerous pursuit that slowly blurs the line between justice and obsession.
When Furious premieres on Hulu and what the first photos reveal
Fans won’t have to sit tight for too much longer to catch Emmy Rossum’s newest project. Hulu has locked in July 27 as the premiere date for Furious, with the first three episodes releasing right out of the gate (via Deadline).
After that, fresh episodes will roll out every Monday until the season wraps up on August 31. Fans in the U.S. will be able to watch the series on Hulu and through Hulu on Disney+. International viewers can catch the show on Disney+.
The series comes from Elizabeth Meriwether, the creative mind behind shows like New Girl, The Dropout, Dying for Sex, Single Parents, and Bless This Mess. In Furious, Emmy Rossum stars as FBI agent Alice Black, who finds herself hunting a brilliant female serial killer.
According to the official synopsis, both women are driven by their own sense of justice, and as their paths keep crossing, the line between hero and villain starts getting blurry. The show is projected as a cat-and-mouse game that loves to keep viewers guessing.
The newly released photos offer hints about the tense tone. One image shows Rossum with messy hair, sitting on a couch surrounded by investigation files while gripping a gun, seemingly preparing for danger. Another still features Rossum alongside Scoot McNairy on a staircase, suggesting they may be heading toward a crime scene.
Other images focus on Lola Petticrew, including one where she wears a white shirt, short skirt, and fishnet stockings, and another where she is seen holding a syringe. Additional photos highlight conversations between Rossum and McNairy, as well as solo shots of Petticrew, McNairy, and Jake Lacy.
Brian Kirk directed and executive-produced the first two episodes, while Rossum also serves as an executive producer alongside Ronald Bass, Matt Olmstead, and Sam Hoffman.
