Ahead of TGS 2025, Square Enix announced a new Dragon Quest mobile game. Following a tease for the title, it confirmed Dragon Quest Smash/Grow will be a roguelike with a closed beta test appearing ahead of its full release. Registration is open on September 17, 2025, and the 1.0 version will debut in 2026. That beta will then run between October 14-21, 2025.
The initial images and footage shows Dragon Quest Smash/Grow being played in portrait mode. Our avatar will be in the field, attacking enemies. At the bottom of the screen, we can see SMASH and GROW buttons. As we defeat enemies, we collect Blessings to power our characters up. We’ll also use Coup de Grace attacks to wipe out large numbers of foes, with an Inferno Slash being shown in one screenshot.
Here’s the first Dragon Quest Smash/Grow teaser trailer that shows its roguelike elements. It also goes over the beta test announcement.
And here are three of the first screenshots for the game. One image shows in-battle gameplay, another offers examples of Blessings, and the third shows an enemy.

Dragon Quest Smash/Grow will come to Android and Apple iOS devices in 2026, registration for the closed beta is live now, and that test will run between October 14-21, 2025
